Raisa was raised by both her parents at Los Angeles, California. Her sisters are Irlanda Almendarez and Italia Almendarez. Francia's first name is Italian which means France. In the same fashion, Irlanda is Ireland in Italian and Italia refers to the Italian term for Italy. Virginia Almendarez's mom is Mexican and Renan Almendarez is from Honduras. Renan took on the name of El Cucuy not very long after the birth of Francia. He is a famous DJ and radio show host. He is also a popular Latino DJ in Los Angeles. Francia lived in a house that was dominated by a famous dad and so did her sisters. Francia speaks Spanish as well as English well. Francia began taking dance lessons in the age of five. Her parents were in charge of enrolling her. The classes were not focused on one type of dance. They included all styles of dance, from tap to jazz, Polynesian hip-hop and aerial acrobatics.
